Non-cichlid Malawi animals?

Has anyone kept fish, invertabrates, or other aquatic animals other than cichlids?

I know it is possible to get the Malawi crab and the Malawi eel, are these extremely difficult animals to keep?  Can they be kept with cichlids?

What about other fishes?

I know there is a freshwater sponge in Malawi, is this possible/available for the aquarium?

Any other animals?  Snals from Malawi?

I actually would like to try sponge, but not sure I will be able to find it for reasonable price.
