Title: Filter foam
Post by: Rumble Fish on November 05, 2015, 05:53:37 PM
I'm looking to buy some filter foam, a product I've never actually used before.  I understand its reticulated foam made from either polyether or polyester.  Is there a good cheap source of this somewhere local?  I'm going to need some some larger dimensions and thickness.
Thank you!

I am currently checking out some foam as I want to install matten filters in my tank. I will let you know if I think they are any good.

That's exactly what I want to use it for as well! if you are getting any and you're willing,  I'll gladly split any costs with you.

I've been able to find some Toronto based companies on the web and sent off some emails to see if they can provide.  I'll post any info I get here.  It seems wrong to have to order this from outside the country...  ???

Not sure how much the shipping would be.

They have some poret foam also, and shipping is reasonable.

I've got lots and won't need to reorder for a while. They have a distributer in North America. I ordered four 2" Poret foam sheers, 13 x 13 inches, I couldn't find any other option for my size of filter. It was expensive, especially the shipping, so if you can find it somewhere else you'd be better off. I got it very quickly though.

Yes,
Stephan Tanner at Swiss Tropicals is a wonderful guy supplying Poret. He's a Cory guy. I've the facility to cut foam and will be contacting him in the near future to order filter material for cannister filters.
