Today so far has 76 people on line looking throughout the very professional looking site. The 20th of February saw a record number of people on line at 77 visitors. It has been intriguing to cast our minds back and see that in this time last year, a record number of visitors that held place for a long time, was at 36 visitors.

I firmly believe that the site is going to continually grow in this way, I'm always looking for interesting ideas from other people regarding unthought of, untried, or even previously disregarded or abandoned projects.

Can you think of a way in which we could increase our traffic by attracting new members, site users and guests, thereby pushing the APW to expand the servers yet again?

Post your ideas here, or let any of the executive know through pm's or emails.

Well, that cinches it, when I began posting this thread, there were 76 on line, as I posted, there were 85, now that is quite the leap today. Better hurry APW, it's only Tuesday.

They're all here for the late breaking trade dealine details.

When I heard Oleg Saprykin was on the move I immdeiately visited OVAS to see if Ottawa snagged him.

I find word of mouth to be the best advertiser, and inexpensive!  When I was at the store and helped a customer who really wanted to dive in, or had mysterious things happening in the tank, I would recommend them to visit OVAS for further information.  Don't know how many actually did, but I did hear from some that they had been here and found the site helpful.

Also -- Norm had lists printed out of various fish websites that we would hand out to people who were interested

There are still plenty of people in the area who do not know of ovas. I am forever answering the same question on my trips to the lfs. I am gazing into the tanks and someone will ask me "So do you have a SW tank? Is it hard to look after?" I always mention the ovas web site/forums as a good place to get advice before deciding to buy something. And while the forums are great I think the online library section can do even more to help newcomers. More peer reviewed how-to articles and outlines of various setups as well as equipment reviews could be very helpfull for newcomers to the hobby.

However, expanding the online library will significantly increase traffic of non local people. That could be good or bad depending on which way you look at it  ;)

Interesting advice there, and pretty nice of you to encourage folk to come and have a look. The website handout is something I would actually like to see, if you or Norm don't mind sharing.

Well mister kennyman, you have a valid point about the library, which brings me to my next query, would you, or anyone that looks like you enjoy writing about some of the things that you think you may know that would help to expand the articles library?

As far as the library of articles, how to, anything at all really, this invitation is open to most everyone regarding an area of expertise you may feel you could share with the rest of the world. No plagiarism though, it must be your own article. Pictures on occasion should be included for clarity or proof by demonstration Q.E.D.

hmm I don't have mine with me anymore, but there was one list for goldfish and pond sites, and one for tropical interests.  The goldfish one had:  Koko's Goldfish World, Koivet, and several others I can't remember  :-\

The general aquarium/tropical list had OVAS (but of course), one for Discus, and wow, my memory is decroding over here.  Will PM Norm and see if he could relist them here since I've done such a poor job!

That's cool Crumpy, it was fun to watch you deconstruct your brain on the page, it is good to know that you too suffer from brain clouds, I don't feel so unusual now. ;D

Look forward to seeing if Normc's memory is any better. ;)

I would be happy to contribute in any way that I could. I am certainly no expert in any area of our hobby, unlike many of our members here who truly are. But I may be able to patch together a simplistic article or two on some basic stuff. And who knows, perhaps that might motivate those of you with truly extensive experience to share.

Why not contact Rogers cable 22 ( &the new RO )to arrange  a info. show, along the lines of interviews with the executive , video clips of various activities( Auction, home show etc.) they have or use to have a community show which reaches a lot of homes.
regards.

There are tons of free local classified sites- some info could be posted up.

I dont mind doing this, given that I'm neither local or a member! Seems I should give something back given how much I'm here harassing you all.  ;)
