Compatibility with Cichlids

I have a 90g freshwater tank that desperately needs some fishies...     and all I have left in it are my giant pleco (whom I adore...) and 3 cory cats, 1 platy, 1 rasbora and 1 danio...

Is there a type of cichlids I could put in there?  or if I got rid of the palty, rasbora & danio, can cory cats live w/ cichlids?

We have always wanted cichlids, but have never had few enough freshwater fish for them to be a good idea...
Any suggestions on types would also be appreciated... I want some nice colours...

Not with Africans mostly due to water needs but also aggressiveness.  You should look more at south Americans like rams etc.
