Hello there.  I'm from Nova Scotia and have been a member of the East Coast Aquarium Society for several years.  As my forum name suggests, my main focus is in betta splendens which I have been (semi) successfully spawning for a few years.  I import my breeding stock from Thailand (an expensive endeavor, but nobody said this was a cheap hobby!) and currently am concentrating on red dragon Halfmoons and Blue Halfmoons.

I will be coming to Ottawa in a few days to visit some family, and am hoping to find a few things while in Ontario that aren't readily available here in the East.  In particular, I'm looking for some wild-type bettas - betta simplex specifically.  I have asked all of my betta-raising contacts and nobody seems to have any for sale at the moment, so I was hoping I might find someone here who knows where I might be able to find some.  I know that your society is much larger than ECAS and thought I might find some fellow bettaholics here  ;)

I appreciate any suggestions you might have in finding these fish.  And I hope to get to know some of you online through the forum as well.

Thanks,

Heather

Hi and welcome Heather.  If you haven't already, try posting an ad in the classifieds.  :)

Life is too short to wake up with regrets.  So love the people who treat you right.  Forget about the one's who don't.  Believe everything happens for a reason.  If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands.  If it changes your life, let it.  Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

If you take a look at the Local Breeders section on the left hand side of the website, you'll see that there is a fellow in Pembroke that specialises in Bettas.  The list is old, so I don't know whether he's still active.

Might be worth a try.
