Title: Glass Cleaning
Post by: TGW1974 on October 18, 2014, 07:50:36 AM
I was given an old tank by a friend an am currently in the process of cleaning it up.

Does anyone have any thoughts for cleaning the glass. In particular, there is a LOT of build up on the glass canopy under the lights. I have already tried vinegar, razor blades, even CLR. But nothing seems to be working...

Any suggestions???

I have used oxyclean and it works wonders followed up with lots of rinsing.

Once you fill it with water you won't see anything.

How did you use the vinegar? Let the tops sit in a vinegar solution solution for a couple hours then try a razor blade over it. Has worked for me.

That's exactly what I did... I think the glass might actually be etched.... but I'm still hoping that I can clean it.

Sometimes buying new tops is a better deal than all the effort and chemicals :P
