Another Cheap Lighting Idea

I'm re-doing my in-wall 30g Metaframe tank and I decided to try some different lighting, mostly to help trim hydro costs. The tank has just had a big water change and I'm not really sure what's going in there so ignore the look - but what do you think of the lighting? Two 13 watt CFL twistys in blue. They're in those aluminum reflectors from clamp-on utility lights so I may have to work on the focus a bit and I may add a third bulb. The bulbs were less than $6 each.

They're not too bad.  I have one lighting my 3G pico reef.

There's a good article here about them...  http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2010/8/aafeature

Very informative. I think I'll go back for a few more tomorrow.

Here's another inexpensive choice. The lighting in this pic of The Green Mile is from two of those flex LED strips from Walmart. Total cost was $30 not including the 12VDC adapter from my junk box. Should run for the better part of a year for the price of a large coffee. With the direction hydro prices are taking, every little bit counts.
