Pure metro dosages are in the milligram range.  Since most people don't have accurate scales like that, companies that produce Metro-based products will mix with salt in order to make it easier to dose based on tsp/tbsp.

All you are doing by looking for pure metro is avoiding adding salt to the tank and forcing you to ensure you dose correctly.

That being said, if you are making a metro-based food.. then pure metro would be more convenient.
