wondering if it is a predatory crab or not. if it is reef safe or not and finally if I should put him back to the tank or not???\

Looks like a form of Xanthid?  Maybe.. eitherway I vote Evil and keep it out.  Toss it in your sump?

red eyes and black pincers = evil little devil crab that eats all living things including your pets and children even sasquatch. I say tie him up at the front door to scare would be robbers.

Ya I'm still healing from that last Xanthid crab attack...

Bad crab. Sump it or give it away or feed it to a mantis shrimp.

how did you catch him? I may have seen one in my tank under a rock but I can't seem to get him. He has done no damage yet with the possible exception of removing a hermit from his shell and murdering him--not sure about that one tho.
