Hi.

I have 3 snake skin gouramis. Recently the anal fin (I think it's the anal fin, sorry for my newbie-ism) on one has started changing color (black patches).

Is this an indication that it's a female and is ready to breed? Any other guess what it could be/mean?

I really can't tell the difference int he sexes of the 3 gouramis, so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

not being a gourami expert I have no idea if it's an indication they will breed, I do know that gourami's are bubble nest breeders similar to bettas and I have noticed some of the cichlids in the system at my store get black patches on occassion, I have always assumed it was due to poor conditions, not high nitrates or ammoneas as we haven't had any in the past 2 months, but perhaps inadequite pH, or temp too low..things like that..that's just a guess however.
