Goodbye Classifieds - Hello SMF Classifieds

If all goes well with this weekend's software upgrade, I will be installing some specialized software for the classifieds.  The old classifieds will remain visible for a week or so, but you will not be able to post there any longer.

The new classified software means less work for the moderators (you have to put in a price) and offers some interesting features which we may explore later on.  The most interesting is the ability to have feature items on the front page - we will explore this after any upgrade issues have been fixed.

Also posted ads will automatically expire after a set period (we're starting with 60 days).  This is done automatically by the system and you will be able to see on your ad how much time is left.

The new classifieds area.  The Featured Listings area will be explored in the near future.  Most likely for a small price your ad (with a picture) can be displayed on the front page of the classifieds.

The Tag Cloud area will contain a list of the keywords of the most popular items for sale on the forum.  Simply click a keyword and see all the items that match.

The new format for listing an item allows for keywords to be entered.  These can be searched on in the Tag Cloud as mentioned above.

The price is now manditory (For Sale board) and you can also enter your location if you wish.

We are also going to give the Trader Feedback system a try.  This is where you can rate your buying/selling experience.

Please note - this system will only work if it is used in a positive manner.  OVAS will not tolerate any abuse of this system.
