Crazy story!  I'm amazed I've never heard of this before!  Thanks for sharing (warning)

Wow... I'm not surprised that there are people who keep zoa's and don't know of this.  But when I bought my first zoa at Marinescape about 6 years ago, they told me about it.  I was advised to always wear goggles when dealing with them out of water, and never really heeded the warning.

I once lifted a colony out of the tank to pick something off the bottom and a stream of fluid shot directly at my face - missing my eyes by INCHES.  It then sailed past my dog's eyes by inches too.

I've heard of people getting hit by that stuff in the eyes and spending some time at the hospital as a result.

I used a propane torch to remove brown polyps from some LR I had.
My experience was a terrible fever lasting for many hours.

I did it again just to be sure it wasn't a coincidence.
It wasn't.  :(

Not sure if was here last year or another site.
But somebody's dog died after lapping up a bit of water
from a pail used for fragging.

one thing i noticed, zoos always seem to target your eye very good, everytime, always the eyes, some near misses, but all around the eye no matter how far!
