Post by: barabe on July 21, 2008, 11:52:47 PM
I thought it was a good idea to put my excess aquarium duck weed in my pond. Boy, was I wrong!!!
I've been removing duck week for the pas 2 days... it literally covered my pond in a matter of days.
Take my word for it... don't do it!!! :o

Lol...it's good at doing that!!  If it's the small leaf variety, your fish will happily eat it if they're not fed for a bit.  If it's the large leaf variety that kindof looks like frogbit, you'll be scooping it out for a while yet!!  I take out about 3 double fistfulls a week!!

I purposely put the frogbit type of duckweed in my pond.  It covers well and keeps the light under contro, and it's the only stuff the raccoons play with and don't wreck.  You should see the state of my hyacinths that they constantly pull through the mesh :(  I also put in the little duckweed from my tanks in there but my koi seem to know the difference and eat it all fairly quickly.
