Title: 10 gallon planted low tech tank
Post by: YOWgyrl on October 22, 2019, 02:21:45 PM
This tank was a standard set up with gravel substrate.

I converted it into a dirted tank.  I based the concept on the Walstad method of alternative aquariums.
I used organic potting soil, capped with caribsea aquarium sand. Cholo wood covered with moss, dragon stone and lots of plants. I used some river stones and gravel. The hills were created placing the previously used gravel into nylon mesh bags.
No CO2, no ferts.
The current inhabitants are 6 bloody mary shrimp, and 6 ember tetras.
The big heater is temporary until I can find a small one that I can hide behind the plants.
There is a very small water pump in the back to keep the water flowing.
