I got 2 Mopani wood recently that is being covered in white substance. What is it and how can I remove it permanently? Here is a picture of this gooey substance.

if the wood is new and recently put in the tank, it will go away in a week or so... but if the wood has been on the tank for a long time, it might be fungus... either way, wood fungus goes away in a few days.

Completely normal. Flow helps remove it (thanks rob!), otherwise I found it could be syphoned off.

For me, the best cure was throwing a few mollies and platies in the tank, they def eat it!

I don't think that is a mopani wood. I have the same wood in my eheim 9gal. That's normal, because it is a new wood. My ramshorn snails take care of it in a couple days.
