Hi Folks,

A quick profile and video on Gnathochromis permaxillaris

This deep water cichlid grows to about 7" long, and has a vacuum like mouth that it uses to gently suck up food stuff from the bottom of the tank. For a fish of it's size, it has a relatively gentle demeanor and should be kept with calm tankmates.  A bi-parental mouthbrooder, a large flowerpot provides a great area for breeding.

Great tankmates for these fish include many of the Lamprologine cichlids, Frontosa, Altolamprologus, Large Julidochromis, Synodontis as well as Cyprichromis or Paracyprichromis species.

While not a brightly coloured fish, the look and behaviour of this fish make it a unique addition to your hobby.

They are not something that you see often, but are currently available for special order.
