Forum start position

Why when I open a thread some time it positions at the start and other times at the end of the thread.

It depends where you're opening it from. 

If you click on the title of a thread, it will take you to the start of the thread.

If the thread has a 'new' icon next to it and you click on that, it will take you to the start of the posts in that thread you haven't read.
