What do I do with my parrot's unused food?  He died a couple of months ago and I had opened up a new bag of food a week before. :'( :'( :'( :'(

I hate to see it go to waste...it's really good stuff!  Roudybush Maintenance.

I'd seal it up well and put it in the freezer for now. It must have a
best before date?

Then either sell it or give it away.

Sorry for the loss of your parrot.

We've got four and I'd for sure be devastated if
we lost one. :(

I'm going through the same thing as I lost my Canary Professor Farnsworth last week, and my dog Lexie three weeks ago.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

I figured I would throw the seeds outside for the wild birds, and I gave the dog food to a co-worker.

Iceman

So sorry to hear about your friend.

Maybe you could donate the food to an animal hospital.

Thanks everyone.

He actually wasn't that old.  He was only 11 out of a potential 30 years.

He died of liver failure due to excess Iron.  The vet said that even if we had found it we would have ended up in the same place because there's no curing that, just slowing the progress.  I've been advising everyone to ask their avian vet to do the iron test.  It's not something most vets automatically screen for.  My parrot ate a lot of veggies and stuff like I did but he was was on the Hagen parrot kibble for 8 years, then I switched him to Roudybush.  That's supposed to be great kibble.  I sure hope that wasn't the source for the excess iron.
