I do like the clean look of your tank!!!
Makes me consider an urchin to clean all the coralline in mine.

The light is a current usa dual satellite 2x65w with moonlight.(I think it's sold, but will let you know for sure :))

Tank looks good, nice pick in fish. :)
Your rock is tastefully placed.

What is on the sand bed below the clown?

I don't add any additives to my tank.

thanks Julie.........
the speciment on the sand bed is a Pacific carpet anemone
which I bought under the assumption was not going to host my true percs
. but guess what.? he now lives there...considering is a poisenous
anemone......
the reason I asked about the additives is Because I see your rocks
lack colors such as coraline........other than that you have one nice
tank.......IMO. :D

Julie, you could add some additive imo, adding a little bit extra with your regular water change will do wonders, i am thinking about adding a calcium reactor since this adding stuff every few days is no fun.

Thank you YT.  It's just a mis mash right now until I upgrade in a little over a month  ;D

Calcium is at 480ppm - what do you keep yours at?

thanks

Julie........I have never tested calcium before.......
but have always added Iodide, calcium,ph buffer, reef builder
and phytoplankston(recently).........I have noticed that
adding extra calcium and additives strenghtens most of
the organisms living in the tank........
I have tons of feather dusters some of them are getting huge
something that I did never seen before.....
and coraline on some of the new rock is starting to build.
before this new set up  I never added anything to the tank
and I was not getting results..but now on this new tank I have seen
differences..........try at least reef builder it helps.......
IMO.
cheers. ;)

Is the coraline a must for the a sw tank?

I'm not a fan of it at all. And find it looks like a toxic sludge of sorts, lol.  :D  How does one keep it away? Or at the very least under control?

It's one of my main turn offs when it comes to sw tanks.

coraline is a sign of a healthy tank, and adds a colour thats it.

The back and side walls are covered in it and Mettle it's rock hard.  Only way I can remove it is with my nails(yuck) or sometimes a plastic credit card will do the trick.  The regular algae magnet doesn't work.

Only explanation for not on the rock itself is the rock is covered in button polyps, zoa and other soft corals.
One rock has a red filamentous algae growing on it, it's at the front.  It grows quite long and sometimes I pull some of it out but it's not your regular turf, more like a sliver  ;).

The t rock totonka(sp?) at the front came without coralline and I just purchased it.

So that's how I explain my rocks; one even had a mantis shrimp in it at one time.

This weekend is the Metcalfe Fair fair goers and no they don't have any live rock.

It's really nice of all those credit card companies to send out those "your name here" samples.  They make such nice tank scrapers.  Work quite well for frost on car windows too  :(.

you may need to add some flow to your tank. to get rid of the algae on  your rock. couple mj's or a seio will do the trick!
