Title: Live food
Post by: cerickson on November 26, 2003, 03:43:23 PM
Does anyone know where I can get some live fish food in Ottawa?

Such as bloodworms or brineshrimp. It seems that no fish or pet store carries any.

Any tips would be great.

I know that Aquarium Services and PetSmart sell brineshrimp eggs.  Stores never sell live brineshrimp since the brineshrimp are only good for a few days after they hatch.

I believe Aquarium Services on Innes road sells white worms (live).   They may have other live foods too, I've never inquired.

The whiteworms are cultures, so you have to wait a few weeks before they're big enough for something bigger (like a discus). I think its about 4.50$ for a styrofoap cup full of dirt and worms

Superpet also has brine shrimp eggs, and should also carry the hatchery

Good to hear.. I'll take a look see at some local pet stores here, and whenever I make it over to petsmart I'll look into setting up a hatchery.
