Title: Pruning/Triming/Hacking off parts....
Post by: sykomonkey on November 22, 2006, 09:59:01 AM
Good day all,

I've a nicely planted 70 gallon, however my eldest Amazon sword  has gotton too big,  It's grown out of the water.   I would like to know if i would be safe to trim it down  cut it in half or the likes.

Any suggestions on pruning would be appreciated.

You can peel away the outer layer of leaves from the base of the plant.  You can't cut the leaf in half, most of the time it will end up just dying off and rotting away.

The unfortanate part about taking good care of Amazon swords is that eventually they just get way too big for even the largest of aquariums.
