Just thought I'd throw this out there before I went out and bought one in the new year. Does anyone here make wood stands and can you make one in the first couple weeks of January? I know Darkdep and Bitterman make them but I understand people are busy during Christmas.
I don't want to bother making it myself if I had to do that I'd just buy a nice one for 269
I would put in an order too if that helps to maximize material.
Cheers,
Sam
Not that I'm committing, but what sort of design are you looking for art (and chinaman)?
something not unlike this (https://www.ovas.ca/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.aquacorals.com%2FPics%2FDryGoods%2FAquariums%2FStands%2FAG%2520Pine%2520STAND%2520Oak.jpg&hash=8a8ac802d5b3188ea09fd72c9eeb4f36071a61df)
Ok, that stand looks to be constructed of laminated knotty pine; I'm assuming this is for a 75gallon. Lemme go look at current wood prices and I'll give you my idea of rough material cost.
thanks! its actually solid pine, I was sniffing it at work today.
Yes, "laminated" means pine boards glued together, as opposed to plywood.
Next thing your going to tell us is that it smells the same. ::)

Better to be caught sniffing the stands than the dirty fish tanks, I guess? :D
I've seen DarkDep's work in person - it's quite fantastic. His 90 gallon was a really great piece of work.
cost me $81 in materials to build a stand for a 65gal but i had some of the wood i needed so really cost more then that(would have been about $110)...a pine stand for a 75gal should run about $130 give or take a bit for supplies (depending on how it is made...oak much much more ;D
2by4 frame inside, plywood or mdf (hardboard) for top (where tanks sits) and shelves and use 1/4" pine slats (used for walls in homes) for around the outside of the 2by4 frame, top and bottom use 1" by 4" pine also needed for the doors and top of aquarium anyways rough idea (that is how i made mine, i live in cornwall and no time to build one soon)
I will have pics up soon of the stand i made in gallery (probably after Christmas just to busy)

I have seen both DarkDep's and SuperT's craftmanship. They are both meticulous!

Thats really nice of you to say, but I still wish I had a fishwall like DarkDeps.

one of you awesome guys want to build me a stand?
I would love to art, but I have a bit much on my plate at the moment and wouldn't be able to get it done in early Jan.
