Title: looking for a bright idea = )
Post by: liv on December 19, 2003, 12:44:31 PM
ok,
I need to isolate my ballasts.. as they are way too noisy.

whats the best way to kill that sound while keeping things safe.

so far, the best idea seems to be to keep them under the cabinet in a steel or alum box with some insulation.

what you guys/gals think ?

Hi Liv,

My first thought  to wonder whether the ballasts are being abnormally noisy.  Are they really supposed to be that loud?  Could they be defective?

As for how to isolate them I have no suggestions although if I was putting them in a small insulated box I would worry about them overheating.

Sorry I couldn't help more.

Title: Noisy ballasts

From what I've read, It is my understanding that only "cheap" magnetic ballasts produce the noise.

I've heard that having electrical ballast should this this problem, since they are not buzzing all of the time.
