Title: What fish would be suitable to eat snails in a Discus tank?
Post by: aidensmomma2000 on January 11, 2004, 08:15:31 AM
I have tone of those annoying little snails in my Discus tank- I have some clowns but I don't want to put them in if the ph/temp isnt suitable for them. Any advice on the clowns or another suitable fish?

Clown loaches will do fine in with your discus - I kept them with discus at 86 degrees for years with no problems. I'd suggest a minimum of 3 of them if you can, as they seem much happier in a group.

If you don't have room to add a group of clown loaches, look for some Botia striata, or zebra loaches. They will do equally well in with your discus, but don't get more than about two and a half inches long. They don't show up nearly as often in the LFS though.

Best,
