Title: Peat - yes or no? A bit urgent!!
Post by: Nyx on August 27, 2007, 08:00:12 PM
Is peat necessary or desirable in a planted tank? We are right in the middle of emptying out our 30G planted tank as I type and switching the substrate fluorite. We are wondering if we still need to use the aquarium grade peat for plant health. Any help as quickly as possible is greatly appreciated!! Thank you!! :)

Personal preference really.  I run my tanks with flourite only and have no issues.  Others use peat plates and have no issues either.

Is it absolutely necessary?  No.

Thanks, BigDaddy! We decided to go peat-free. :)
