Title: Used Buckets - Clean?
Post by: Vallely4 on November 16, 2007, 05:12:20 PM
Does anyone have advice on whether I should use a bucket that once held wine?

I need a bucket to do water changes, and mix-up saltwater.
I found a bucket about 6g and just wanted to make sure its wasn't contaminated or such. I asked only if it was clean/no soap and was told at one point it had wine in it?

If it had wine, that would make it a type of bucket that was approved for food products. So it should be fine... You can clean it out with vinegar (to be on the safe side). Rinse it out thoroughly, and repeatedly with r/o water.

I personally use two buckets today that I once made wine in.  No issues.

Good to know,
Thanks for the help folks!

I'll just be sure to give it the good ol' vinegar rinse if I use one- as with most of aqua stuff I put in my tank.
