HI everyone!!!
I would like to know what you guys think about using carbon in a planted aquarium.
Do i use it sometimes, always or never.
Happy new year! and thanks
There are lots of people out there who will tell you never to use carbon on a planted tank. However, I have never found any imperical data to support the claims that it can essentially "strip" your ferts out of the water column.
The bigger question is, why do you need carbon? Carbon is great for removing medications from a tank but otherwise in a planted tank it really isn't a requirement.
I haven't used it for ages.
I haven't used it in a few years, and would only do so to remove meds.

... if I think I have to. Otherwise it is just taking up precious space for bio filtration.
Same applies for me, i havent used carbon in ages, and when used, only for a few days to remove Meds.
