Title: Coralife 10,000K Help
Post by: redeemer on March 18, 2008, 09:39:45 PM
i have a 75gal SW tank with so far only 40pounds of LR in it. i have 2 small canopies from my old 55gal FW tank. now on that tank i had these Coralife 10,000K high-intensity purified super-daylight lamp. i have no light on the SW tank so i decided to throw these on it until i can get some funds together and splurge on MH. would these lights benefit the LR at all??? i live in an all inclusive :D so i can leave them on 24h if needed to help speed up the Cycle in the tank. Any response is greatly appreciated and welcomed

Ps. here is a link to the Light that i'm talking about

I made the mistake of keeping lights on during cycling - I thought the tank looked cool all lit up with just rocks  :P.  All it did was lead to an algae outbreak and delay the time between then and when I could add corals.  The clean up crew was happy when they were added.

I'm sure others will comment on the lighting for the tank.

Hey Christian,
Those light will work for illumination purposes but you done need to have light on your tank right now.
I would say that you can add them so that you can look at the tank but certainly do not leave them on 24-7 or you will get an algae outbreak!
