Title: Tank stand
Post by: psychwolf on March 24, 2008, 03:12:25 PM
Hey folks
Just wondering if anyone here has made a stand for another member. I am in need of a stand for my 90 gallon, but just can't seem to find one I like. Seen pics of DIY stuff in here and liked what I saw. If anyone likes these types of projects and would like to help me out that would be great. Of course I will cover the cost of all materials and pay whatever you think is fair. Let me know about how much you think it would all cost, and if you have pics of some of your past projects I would love to see them.

I just completed a stand and canopy for another OVAS member for a 6foot tank. He wanted to match an Oceanic stand he already had, so without copying it exactly(that would be cheating!), I managed to end up with a pretty close match. I used to have a small cabinet shop when we lived in Calgary and although I`ve given up making kitchens, I still dabble in furniture and aquarium stands. I tried to post some pics, but the servor keeps saying the files are too big. I can email anyone who wants to see them pics, if you pm me. I am not really ready to get geared up again for full production but as long as I still have fun making stuff, I don`t mind. If anyone is interested I can provide a price idea.

I just picked up my stand and canopy from Mark yesterday and must say I am very happy with the results. I had him make me a black oak set for a 125/150 and the final result was well finished, more than competitively priced and was available in a decent time frame where I would have had to wait for a similar oak stand at a LFS. Typically what the LFS carry in stock are pine stands, only, and if you want something more exotic it can take a while.
I will take some pics and post them this week.
Thanks again Mark.

Al, Glad to hear it looks O.K. with your tank set up on it. Thanks for the kind words!
