Title: DIY Lighting and hood for 4' 75g
Post by: Eirikre on March 29, 2005, 04:57:23 PM
I have two, double tube, florescent shop lights and a 75g with no lights so I would like to build a hood with one of the double strip lights inside and the ability to add the other in the future (should I decide to plant this tank).

Any plans or sites I might refer to for designs and information?

Anyone here do this sort of thing and has advice to offer?

Anyone here do this sort of thing and is interested in doing it for me for a fair price?

Let me know, thanks.

i've built several suspended lights for my planted tanks. they are 4' using 2 shoplights. each shoplight has 2 40w bulbs for a total of 160 watts.

if you've going to supply the lights, i can probably build you one for $60. that's going to include all the wood and the few hours it takes to do a good job. i can deliver it anywhere in ottawa and install it for an extra $20.

here's more information:

I have a wooden canopy that may work for you - if you're interested and if it fits I can post a picture. Has two sets of lights but I would replace them.  Could save you alot of work and expense. What are the dimensions of your tank?

luvfishes that's exactly the type of thing I am looking for or to make.  Can you get plans for that?
