Title: Propagate Amazon Sword?
Post by: HappyGuppy on June 25, 2008, 06:01:45 PM
My Amazon Sword is getting kind of large, a bit too large for my small tank.  I was thinking of trading it or some how passing it on to someone else, but I also like it and don't want to be rid of having an Amazon Sword.  Is there some way to propagate it, cutting it some how so that I still have one (smaller) before getting rid of the main one?  How do you propagate it?  Thanks for answers about this.

Swords will typically propagate buy shoots that will either produce seed or plantlets.  Some will produce plantlets on runners.

If you haven't seen either yet...

My swords shoot long shoots with small plantlets into "space", which requires me replanting the plantlets back into the gravel, or alternatively cutting the shoot and replanting the plantlet elsewhere. Buggers!!
