Vortex was the brand I got.

Don't buy the diatom powder from the fish store. It's extremely expensive. I think it was like 10$ for 100 grams. Go to mermaid pools on ogilvie and get it from them. I paid something like 20$ for 30 pounds of the powder. Trust me that's enough powder for a life time.

I've a HOT you can borrow, with daitom. i use it every once in a while when i want to polish my water or any algea blooms.

you can borrow it, with the diatom, and pay me whatever you think is fair. i do want my unit back tho :|

it filters alot of stuff out but im not sure about diseases. not sure what micron it filters down too

I believe most diatom filter work down to the 1-3 micron level which will remove all suspended algae and parasites along with many types of bacteria. I do not believe they are very effective on fungi and viruses.

would it be good on on a Q tank when you gwet new fish ?
