I bought one of these in TO about a month ago. It's growing and seems ok except for the way the leaves are growing. I have attached a pic that I coppied from the internet to show how it's supposed to look, but the leaves on mine are still bright green and curly (even the new ones that have grown), but lay close to the bottom.
What an I doing wrong?

They are a heavy root plant. They like root tabs & rich iron. They are a centre piece plant getting very big.
I agree with Dan. Root tabs are good for these guys. I have one in my tank and it grows like a weed. The leaves get so big they grow across the surface of the tank. It also flowers constantly. I think I have 3 flowers growing from it right now.
I forgot to mention that this plant didn't grow well for me until I started pressurized CO2. Without CO2 it never had more than 4 or 5 leaves and they stayed quite small. Once I fired up the CO2 it grew out of control.

Hmmm...I guess I'll try the root tabs. It flowered for me as soon as it went in the tank and has also grown about 6 leaves since I bought it...I see 2 more growing from the centre also!! I bought it to be a large focal point in the tank and so far it's flopped over on the gravel :P
If you want come over I will give you 1 tab. That way if it works then buy some they are $12 for 10. They last a long several months. The directions say add them every 6" apart but don't do that. I cut them in half and add only near or under heavy rooted plants: Vals, Aponogeton, Crypts, etc. I did twice follow the directions after the 2nd algae break out I attributed it to the extra ferts leaching into the water column. Then I started the cutting and no break outs after inserting them... LMK
