Do you know the brand of your bulb?  They normally last longer than that but you can get a bad/faulty one every once in a while.

When I started my first SW tank, I've had to replace my 4 T5s every 3-4 months as they kept breaking on me (yes, physically break with glass chips coming off). It wasn't a problem with water splashing or anything. I was told that this was simply a bad batch of bulbs. I later got another tank from someone and had to replace those same brand bulbs after a couple of months too.

I switched brands and my bulbs suddenly started to last way longer. Some brands are better than others.
