Post by: maitre007 on May 16, 2005, 12:10:29 PM
I have two fluval filters that aren't working.  Does anybody know where and/or whom I can ask to try to fix them.

i guess it must be the propeller that isn't working because it doesn't do anything when i plug in.

Can you hear the motor running?

Not really or not at all? If the motor is not running at all, the solution may be as simple as a loose wire or as bad as a burnt out motor. If the motor is indeed spinning, perhaps a broken impeller, a minor motor jam, or even blockage.

I have found that sometimes just disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling some units can get them back in the game.

I guess I should try and run it outside of water to see if it is making any noise.

In regards to cleaning it.  That's what I was thinking of doing.  The problem I am absolutely handyman challenged.  When I try to fix things myself, I have a tendancy to make things a lot worse.

hehehehehe.

Well ... it would be funny if it wasn't so true.

If it is a bad wire, what would you suggest that I do.

There you go. I would have offered as well, but if I take on another project at home, I'll be six feet under.
