Title: What are «ideal» floating plants?
Post by: lucodu on January 31, 2009, 01:07:31 PM
I would like to have floating plants that do not decay easily or break up in small pieces as to plug the intake head of my canister filter (Fluval 404).  I do like egeria densa.  Any other suggestions for floating plants that do not contributed to the above mentioned problem?  Thanks.

i find that amazon frogbit, are nice, they float and have nice long roots , NOT like duckweed, which are too small and reproduce too quickly. since the amazon frogbits are large, they are easy to remove completely when you dont want it anymore.

Riccia floats too, and looks nice in, like a green lawn garden if left undisturb.

Thanks for the info!  Finally, thanks to your info, I now know which floating plant I used to have and enjoyed very much (i.e. Amazon frogbit) until I treated my tank for a fish illness that destroyed all my floating plants.  I had bought the frogbit at Rona two summers ago but couldn't remember the name.

I second frogbit - from all plants that float I find that due to its size it is the easiest to control.

I third it, the roots are cool and add a nice look.
