Title: Problem with skimmer impeller!
Post by: rechaud on February 22, 2009, 09:36:32 AM
I have an octopus hob on my tank and one of my impeller is not working good. I clean it up and put vaseline, the impeller works and suck the water big time but there is not movement in the skimmer. My question is what can i do?? the other one working perfectly.

Ma premiere idée..
If there is a kink in the air line or if it's pinched, then no air intake = no bubbles.
I am not sure what advantage vaseline would bring..

merci mec

If the impeller is spinning and pumping water but not producing any bubbles chances are there is something blocking part of the air getting into the pump.

The first thing to check as Jean pointed out is the air line tubing and to be sure it isnt kinked.

Second, remove and dissasemble the air silencer and check to see if it has picked up any debris.

Third remove the venturi. Check it and give it a clean anyways while it is off.

If you would like us to inspect you pump for you then please feel free to bring it in and we can check all of these points for you. You dont need to bring in the entire skimmer, just bring in the pump that isnt working fully.
