Title: Filter Outlet Positioning
Post by: psychwolf on March 10, 2009, 12:54:54 PM
Hey Everyone
I have an Eheim Pro 2 2028 on my 90. I'm sure there are many out there using the same one. My question is how do you have the outlet positioned? I have mine running horizontal along the top of the side of the tank and I bring the level of the water in the tank up to just under the outlet holes so as to minimize the splashing noise. It also creates a current of sorts. Is there a better way in anyones opinion?

When I ran FW I always kept the filter outlet beneath the surface of the water.

There's no risk of a siphon emptying the tank as it's a closed loop, and it cuts the noise to zero.  Just aim it across the top of the tank to get some current, and that's it.

I know when people run CO2 they would probably aim the outlet lower so as to create current but with less surface disturbance to keep their CO2 levels up.
