Title: Filter screen
Post by: psychwolf on April 27, 2009, 02:43:25 PM
Just finished cycling the 20 in the kids room and picked up 5 neon tetras on Saturday. Woke up Sunday morning to find only 4. The fifth one it seems got to close to the filter intake and got crushed inside. What do you use as a screen/guard on the intake?
I am running an AC30.
Thanks in advance

Get a piece of filter foam and stick it to the intake. Nice thing is it also acts as a pre-filter, bad thing is you need to clean it every few days. (just rinse it under a tap)

I've done the sponge thing as well, I also found so filter bags at the LFS, something like http://www.petsandponds.com/en/aquarium-supplies/c271686/p16732573.html

Depending on the filter a different size might be needed. I put it over the intake and tied it in place.

Thanks guys. Both great ideas and will be heading out this weekend to correct the problem. NO further casualties. Guess the rest learned from the ones mistake.
