I have a MJ 1200 hooked up to my ATO, but I don't have a sump. So when the ATO goes off, a very strong large stream of cold fresh water goes into my tank. I did not realize how badly this affected the tank until my SPS that the water was directed at died over night when I accidentally angled it the wrong way when doing a WC.
Is there another pump that has a much smaller output than the MJ 1200 and perhaps feeds the water a little slower, but not too slow that it won't pump the water from a bucket on the floor to the tank?
The MJ's go as low as a 400, you could look at aqualifter pumps.
there are also the minijets a 404, and a 606 i believe
and these are adjustable!

For this application, I would recommend an Aqua Lifter. It doesn't pump too quickly, you use airline tubing so it's less obtrusive, and your topoff will be more accurate because it's slower.
I use one for my ATO and it's excellent. Also, as long as you're just running RO/DI through it, it's zero-maintenance.
This is great!
Thanks! yes, i am using RO/DI. :D
Is this the one? Is there only one kind, or is there a bunch of different power levels? ie, MJ 1200, MJ 400, etc?

Yep, that's the one, and there is only the one. Though I do have one that has a 'hanger' attachment on it and one that does not, they are both otherwise the same.
Retailers around here don't carry them (not even Big Al's that I know of) so you'll need to order one, but that's it. Can't go wrong.
