I'm not sure you have to replace them Julie. If they're cleaned and "vaselined" occasionally they should last as long as the filter does. Assuming of course the ring isn't cut, damaged or stretched somehow.
I've been using a 403 then a 404 for 10 years and have not had any problems with the seal ring.
