A couple things that caught my attention about these tanks.
- Not a huge variety of plants; and even where there are a group of species, they are all quite similar. For example, the first seven tanks have no red plants.
- No hoses, pumps etc. Everything is removed.
- Never any large fish (discus, angels). I guess this is because it would detract from the plants. Look at #23, it has Congos and they ruin the appearance.
Gorgeous art work.
I am waiting to see this years entries ... ::)
I seen few of the entries when I was in Asia. But the tank owners don't want me to take pictures just in case the pictures leak out and against the rules.
The following is the pictures that I took during my trip.
The first one is the winner's tank of last year ADA entry
Believe it or not, the second picture is a tank that I took from a department store in Tokyo
The last one is a planted tank in a lfs in Tokyo.
Enjoy!

Wow - amazing. Who knew that an OVAS member got to see these tanks in person. Where was the ADA winning tank displayed?
Great photos, thanks for posting them.
Amazing planted tanks ... love how they play with depth using plants and driftwoood
A question that kills me is " where do they these large pieces of driftwoood ??"""
My friend sent me a picture and I posted on this site a while ago, this time I had the chance went there checked out the fish market myself. Sure you can find a good size piece able to fill a 500 gal tank!

The following picture is only a small part of the wholesale/retail market! The area for tropical fish alone is bigger than a football field!

The picture shows the price of the shrimps over there, I guess you can consider the price as retial price. It says Bee shrimps approx $1.5 cdn for 30 pcs and Tiger shrimps $1.5 for 60 pcs!
