A friend gave me two very nice pieces of driftwood when he took down his tank. There was a lot of hair algae (brush algae?) on it. I let it dry out a few months... ok, I forgot about it - and have tried to scrub it off but with very little effect. If I put the wood in my tank, will the algae take over?
I had a piece of rock with crazy hair algae on it. I took it out of the tank scrubbed it and set it in front of my dehumidifier overnight. It was totally dry with leftover dried up algae. I put it in my tank and never had any come back. I don't know if it's going to work the same for driftwood and fresh water though. Good luck!
I wouldn't put the wood in your tank til you get rid of the algae,
I'm sure it will spread.
I had a tank with alot of algae, different types and one was brush.
Couldn't scrape it off for love nor money.
Ended up tearing the tank down and soaking the driftwood in this
product.

Worked wonders, the algae turns grey and then just lifts away.
I've since replaced my bleach products in the house with this
cleaner. It's basically hydrogen peroxide at a higher concentration.
Hope that is of some help :).
Just boil them. I had a bad hair algae outbreak that left my driftwood covered in the stuff. I boiled each piece for about 5-10 minutes, then soaked them in cool water so the algae could come off. Got rid of it all.
Thanks, I'll try these.
