Title: Entering Password.
Post by: gerryo on July 24, 2009, 03:13:49 PM
Why do I have to enter my password twice?  Every time I log in my password is entered automatically after I enter gerryo.  Then I press login and am taken to another box and am asked to enter my correct password.  I have tried to change this within my profile but no dice.
Can this be fixed?  If this is a security check then why bother with the password initially.

Just a little frustrating.   ??? ??? ???

Usually you enter the password once; the forum does not request it a second time. Maybe increase the logon-time.

What browser are you using?

Hi fischkopp.

The forum does ask for my password twice.  Otherwise I would not have said it did.

I was pm'd by dan2x38 and his description of how it happens fits perfectly.  He seems to think that this is normal because I use Internet Explorer.  I have no idea why this would be.  Sure seems strange to me.  I do not know how to quote his pm. :-[

But Yes, the forum does ask me for my password twice.

It might be a browser/settings specific behaviour. I used Firefox, IE 6 & 8 and Chrome and never experienced a second password request. Which version of IE are you using?

It sounds to me like your password might have been saved wrong since it takes you to the box to enter CORRECT password...
go to your settings (I don't know IE that well) and look at your saved passwords and fix it...otherwise it will always do that! I had that problem once with another site when I changed my password on the site, but forgot to change it in the browser!! I use firefox...

Once you do that, you shouldn't be asked for your correct password again ;)

???  I haven't got a clue what IE or Foxfire is.  And I don't really need to know.
When I check in to RC or AquariumPros there is no problem.  These sites remember my password for me and all I need to do is click on the password prompt ad it is there.

Anyway, it's just another few unessary keystrokes.    :-\ ;D :D

I have the same problem. Using IE with vista will ask you upon initial sign in if you want the password saved. i think it replaces the password with another, for some reason the number of characters is the same but doesnt log me in and prompts me to sign in again to enter the correct password. I havent found the solution yet, so i usually just stay logged in. When i open the page im already logged on.

gerryo - just go to your settings...change your password, it sounds like it's already saved in wrong...save yourself some trouble ...that is unless you like entering your password again? ;)

salvini55 - yours is just the same...just go to the saved passwords and either delete the one for ovas, or change it...it may have used another password from another site you logged into
