So I need to spend 10$ on a bit of silicone at SP or can I use the home depo stuff? Im assuming they have tank-safe stuff for a reason, but of course they also try and sell betta water

Robin you can use ANY silicone that states it's "aquarium safe'. You can pick it up at any major hardware store. Picked up a large tube (caulking gun size) at Canadian Tire some time ago but don't recall the price - wasn't expensive though. Not sure if they carry smaller tubes.
I bought large tubes of aquarium safe about 5 6 dollars
I'm using CT mastercraft silicone"Window and Door" 67-0860-4. Just check that it is transparent, not white.
I only wish they have black silicone in the hardware stores :(
That mastercraft stuff was the only stuff I found that was aquarium safe! Thank you!
One of the GE Silicones is safe... I believe GE I.
GE II (if I'm not mistaken) specifically says it is NOT for aquarium use... so I'm assuming that omission on the GE I means it is safe for aquariums
Hi
I have been using CT silcone for years with no problem. They recently changed the color of the tube.
And it under $5
Make sure you let it cure properly ( at least3 days)before adding water
James
Yeah it was only 2.99 :D
