Title: good substrate

Hi all, i`m starting a planted tank , which substrate would you recommend, all advise & suggestions welcome.

I worked with Eco Complete and Fluorite. Both are good substrate, but I lean towards the medium sizes Fluorite black, but some fine plant my have problem rooting because it's a bit heaver and denser than Eco.

I also like plain black earth covered with sand. It's the best for sword, cypts & co (heavy root feeders). Just a bit messy when you replant something.

Good suggestions from fischkopp, i have never done the soil thing, but i`ve read on it`s benefits especially for low tech tanks , downside is it can get really messy.
