Here's some pictures of the LED light I built this past summer to supplement my 2x250W 10K XM halides + 4 x T5 actinics setup - I still found it a bit yellow until I added these LED's. The best part is that there is still a ton of shimmer with just actinics on and the LED's serve as a great moonlight.
Here's the inventory:
24v 2Amp power supply - $20 Ebay
12"x8" Heatsink (cut into three strips) - $30US + $10 shipping from Heatsinks USA
2 x 4' Aliminium angle - $4each from Home Depot
12 x Blue Cree LEDs - $3.33 each if you buy 3 or more from Deal Extreme
2 x 1000mA dimmable buckpucks with potentiometer - $19.99US each from LED Supply +$7.50 shipping
3 x 12V Fans - $3 Ebay (bought 10 of them for $1 each)
12 x Optics + Holder - about $1.50US each from LED Supply. I used Wide Ripple which is close to a 40 degree lens
I had the wiring, solder, etc - but call it $10 in bits.
So about $180ish all-in.
When I built the 24 bulb LED light, I used the same materials but added 2 more buckpucks + 12 White Cree LEDs. So call it $260ish for the 24 LED build.
