Title: Cleaning HOB Filter
Post by: pminister on December 19, 2009, 09:31:18 PM
Hey Everyone,

I have had my Marineland HOB-BioWheel Filter, running for almost over a year now. But is it mandatory to clean it, for the sake of the filter not breaking down due to gunk build up.

Has anyone ever tried it, if so how do you do it ?

I was just going to dump my my bio wheel in tank water, and grab the HOB and give it a good run through hot tap water....

Any thoughts..........

I usually add two or three cups of vinegar to a bucket of hot water and toss the filter in. Run it from a few minutes to an hour and rinse. Works very well and vinegar is generally safe for fish.
