Title: Cheap Doser
Post by: Severum on January 13, 2010, 06:10:44 PM
Those of you who cruise reefcentral have likely already seen this but I thought it would be helpful to share with everyone.

$40 - 20 mL/minute Peristaltic Dosing Pump.

Build as many pumps you like together like so:

Nice to see cheap dosers it's one thing I've been meaning to get around to automating. BRS have been out if the famous drew's dosers for so long. $40 is cheaaaaap. Hook em to a controller and bam you're done. Thanks for the heads up.

Anybody up for buying a bunch of them for shipping to Ogdensburg? Then we can have a dosing pump build shop one weekend.

I'd be in for two... Or three. Don't think I'd really need for mag only ca and alk more likely just two. Staying away from mb7, carbon dosing, aa dosing for now.

Any plant-people out there interested in collaborating with the "salties" in doing an "auto doser build" for ferts?

Damn only 9 left!!! Can we do this order ASAP?

I'm out of town so I won't be able to coordinate money so if someone in Ottawa wants to take that lead please do. In the least we'll save on shipping.

There are several threads with the concept of automated water-changes... these style of pumps are what you want for that system!!    Just be sure they can dose enough water (duty cycle) because they are often rated in at 60ml/min, which is great, so long as you can run them 20xday for 5min each or whatever your need is...

Example.  A 60ml/min pump with a 10min duty cycle gives you 72 cycles to run the pump in a day = 720min of run time @ 60ml/min = 43,200 ml or 43L of water changed per day...   (10min duty cycle means 10min run, 10min cooldown before running again btw)
