Title: Black Egg Crate
Post by: JetJumper on July 30, 2010, 02:05:57 PM
Hey Guys,

I have been looking for black egg crate.  I don't know if I just have been blind, but all I can find is white is most stores.  Where have people bought it from?

Thanks!

Home Depot in Orleans had more than white, gold and silver for sure, not sure on the other colours.  when I bought a white sheet a few weeks back.  (Non-white was way more costly)

I know I had looked at one Home depot a bit ago and didn't see it.  Rona I have not tried.. never near one usually.

I will check those 2 places out.

Thanks for the tips.

Rona on Hunt Club (near Merivale) had some a couple of months ago when I was building my sump.

I am not sure of the cost, but I know that Rona on Innes near Costco had some black eggcrate last week.

Rona on Innes carries it.  Seems to me it's about $23 a sheet.

had this talk quick with dan..

what y'all think is better: white vs. black vs. chrome ??
what would reflect light better, than defuse it?

Don't use the chrome. The chrome is a coating that will peel off.

It is at Rona $22. Find one with a little broken piece and the manager of the dept. Will reduce it 15%... ;)

Yeah Vince I am still not sure? I wish I had a glass top instead that would end the debate. I thought more about it and the sylver would reflect it causing defraction for sure. The white would too but it does a different reflection I can't remember what it is called? At least the black looks cool it matchs the tank trim. Plus it is not the real thick stuff so a little less matrial to affect the light.

So far all my corals including open brain, torch, anemone have all done very well.

I totally agree, white and black are actually the injected plastic colour, all other colour are painted on and will peel after a while.

Just buy white eggcrate and a can of black Krylon fusion paint.

I think you waste a ton of paint spraying that. I'd imagine it would be cheaper to just buy blk. first off?
